TGIF

No knitting here today. My wrist was getting better, but one heavy grocery bag killed it again. I really want to update this blog at least once a week, so until my wrist get better I'll write something other than knitting...

It was a couple weeks ago. I found out what "TGIF" means. And I'm amazed...by my wild imagination.

I think I've been wondering what TGIF means for more than 4 years, but somehow I never looked it up in a dictionary. I had sensed that "TGIF" had some cheerful connotation, so at first I assumed it was related to receiving gifts. "Thanks for the GIFts"... The sentence fits perfectly, doesn't it? But the problem was, often it made no sense (of course). So I made another guess. Maybe TGIF was a contracted form of TGI Friday's (the restaurant), and it meant "I'll go out to eat tonight!" (but not necessarily to TGI Friday's.) It was still a bit odd, but made much more sense than Thanks for the GIFts.

Now that I know the meaning, I think my second guess was not so bad... I guessed the original word the other way around, but at least I picked out the same word. :-)

I found your blog when I was looking for info on the Sweater Machine (thinking about getting one) you do lovely work. Do you have many things you created on the machine? It looks like your work is all done by hand! So gorgeous but I would not have the patience!

Sorry to hear about your wrist. I think this type of pain takes some time to heal. I got hands and fingers pain last summer from knitting too much and only healed after i took a break from my knitting.

I went to visit Kyoto before, it's so beautiful and i remember that "scary tree". ;)
