Herringbone gloves update

040202.jpg

I've finished one glove, it fits perfectly this time. One more to go! Here are a few tips I've learned;

  • I found some directions are difficult to do exactly same as it is written (I'm not sure if they are errors or not). I followed my instinct and the results seem fine...
  • When you do the Kitchener stitch the top of fingers, treat the first and end of 2 stitches as one stitch (Does it make sense?). It makes smooth top edge.

Very pretty glove, and it does look as if it fits you perfectly! I think you are right about following your instincts on this pattern; I *had* to follow my instincts (and your and Minako-san's photos) because I cannot read Japanese. So I don't know how the pattern "reads", but I think the charts and graphs are marvelous!

Also, because I didn't know I was supposed to Kitchener the fingertips? I used the "heart of the blossom" closure from Folk Knitting in Estonia, where you run the thread through the remaining stitches and pull tight. Your glove fingertips look perfect!

Hi Lisa,
I thought somebody was helping you to read Japanese! I guess you are very experienced knitter, otherwise it might be hard to knit them without reading the text… at least I don’t think I can knit them. Maybe it’s too late but if there is anything I can help with Japanese, please let me know.
About fingertips, I’ve never done the Kitchener with glove fingertips before and it bothered me a bit. But the fingers look really neat, it was worth the effort.
