I finally got to write something for this blog

It’s been only five months since our baby M came to this world, but I feel like it has been forever. It’s hard to believe I had a life without him! We adore him and our life is filled with love.

I’ve never been happier. It may sound strange, but I didn’t expect something like this would happen… because I always thought I wasn’t a motherly type of person. It wasn’t that I didn’t like kids, but small children didn’t necessarily make my heart warm or anything, if that makes sense. However, I have found that I’m a good enough mother (at least for now.) It is a great relief, and also a joy, to learn a new aspect of myself.

I picked up my knitting needles again last November. I still don’t have much time, so I have learned to keep projects simple. A big success for this winter was a Noro striped scarf, for which I used 4 different Noro Kureyon balls. I wasn’t sure about the colors, but I kept on going because I just wanted to knit. Luckily it turned out to be a really cool scarf! Noro magic, indeed. The scarf is a shade of dark-to-bright greens, blues, and grays, a sort of geeky color combination… My husband, who only likes really soft yarn, looked at it and he said he wanted it. I warned him Kureyon was scratchy, but he uses it a lot.

Right now I’m knitting a super simple stockinette scarf from Habu textiles (I think this project is for machine knitting! Hundreds of rows of stockinette.) and a pair of herringbone stitch gloves. The gloves are the complete opposite of a simple knitting project, but my mother is here and they are for her, so I wanted to finish them while she is here. I now know that’s not going to happen… She’s leaving soon and I still have all the fingers to knit. I’ll see if I can knit them after she leaves.
