I made these for my husband’s co-worker. Aren’t they cute?! I wanted to make these for my baby and bought the books, and thought, “Why not make them for others too?” (They were not the main gift, as I wasn’t sure if it was appropriate to give handmade items to a person whom we don’t know very well.
The originals in the books were crocheted with linen/cotton blend and organic cotton yarn, but I used Bernat’s Softee Baby, 100% acrylic. So they look very different from the ones in the books, but I think they are still very cute.

I finally took a picture of the globe trotter socks. I put the socks on my husband while he was napping on the sofa. He was too sleepy to resist wearing them.
It’s not a great photo though…
I like the stitch pattern, it is simple and shows well Trekking XXL’s subtle color change. The designer writes that the difficulty is intermediate level, but I think it’s easy enough for a beginner sock knitter, if s/he has already knitted a pair. I also think that even though these socks were designed for men, they would look lovely and even feminine if knitted in a lighter colorway. I think I’ll knit a pair for me in the future.

I was going to go to Black Sheep Gathering today. My husband (the driver!) took a day off for me, but he is still sleeping. I know he’s been busy and tired, so I’m debating with myself whether to wake him up or let him have some rest…
