May wrap up

I’ve finished almost everything on my May To Do list!

Done: Dolly, Posie Bootees, Globe Trotter Socks, Alphabet Blanket to 172th row

Not-Done: Trinity Stitch Shawl (knitting the last part… I-cord edging), Ariann (I need buttons, but that’s all! Knitting, weaving ends are done.:-)

Overall, it was good progress to reduce WIPs! I should continue to make a list every month.

Here is a picture of the finished Dolly and Posie bootees.

  • Pattern: Posy bootees (0-9 months) and Dolly (0-3 months), both from the Jaeger JB29 pattern book
  • Yarn: Jaeger Matchmaker Merino 4ply
  • Needles: Clover Takumi single points, US size 1 & 0

The bootees were bigger than I expected, but they are supposed to fit up to 9 months, so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.

I like Jaeger Matchmaker 4ply and have knitted several items with it, but I’m still having difficulty knitting in a stable gauge. I can see the gauge changing while I knit, and it’s not just a small difference. When I knitted a pair of gloves, each glove came out in different sizes… This time, I actually had to re-knit the back to match the front pieces. This doesn’t happen with other yarn. For example, I don’t have a problem knitting a pair of socks in a similar gauge. Hm mm.

I was hoping to post a picture of the glove trotter socks too, but since they were finished just in time for summer, the recipient (my husband) was very reluctant to model them. Maybe next time.
